Here is a list of basic things you’ll probably need to make the most of your time spent working out in public whether it be a coworking session or just on your own:

  • Device(s) you’ll be using: laptop, tablet, phone
  • Headphones or earbuds
  • Charger(s)

Depending on what you do that may be it! You may want to use a VPN (I have been experimenting with TunnelBear) if you’re working over public WiFi, or plan to work offline. U.S. Type-B power outlets are available, but sometimes limited, in most locations. Bring any power adapters you might need so you don’t run out of juice before you’ve finished what you’re working on.

Bring your EQ also — if others are working with you, they’re certainly up for a bit of a chat, but try to notice if they’re really in the zone and wait for an appropriate opening to invite them into conversation. Try not to be offended if this opening doesn’t arise on any given day.

Heather often has a cable lending library with Windows- and Mac-friendly options when she’s out working. So say hello and ask her if you need to borrow something.

Beverages & Snacks

Beverages and snacks are available for purchase at Calm Waters and Noble Earth. The library, of course, is a refreshment-free zone.
